When I first read the synopsis for this book I thought two things. This could be really good or this could be really bad. I was hopeful for the good but unfortunately all I got was the bad. This is only the third time ever in all the reviews that I have ever done that I have given a book this low a rating and I hate doing it but I have to be honest.

The concept of the story itself was extremely interesting and there was great potential for an amazing and thought provoking read. As I turned each page I was hopeful that the story would pick up but it never did. It is obvious that C.H.E. Sadaphal is an extremely intelligent man by his wording and descriptions but I felt that the story got lost in his words. It took me three days to read because I had to keep setting it down and walk away. For a book that was only 190 pages, three days is a long time to finish a book.

The characters in this book were not likeable and I had a hard time getting behind them or caring what happened to them. It would have been nice to read about what they did to survive but in the six years that they were alone on earth they did absolutely nothing. When it ended the way that it did all I could think was good riddens. It was truly disappointing.

I am keeping this short because I feel terrible for writing such a bad review. I am sure that the author worked extremely hard on this book but unfortunately it was definitely not for me.

About the Author

C.H.E. Sadaphal was raised in Long Island, New York. He is the son of physicians and obtained a B.A. from The University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, at the age of 20. He went on to complete medical school in Philadelphia at the age of 24. He now is a full-time physician in emergency medicine and is a partner with a group based in New Jersey.

He remains very active in his free time, is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a student of krav maga. He enjoys family, world travel, writing, quiet time, and is a lifetime member of Mensa. He is also a voracious reader and his favorite authors include Ralph Ellison, C.S. Lewis, Murray Rothbard, Michael Crichton, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Jonathan Franzen, and Henry Hazlitt.

He lives with his family in NYC.
