Review: White Christmas by Ros Baxter

What if your only chance at survival was to seduce the man who broke your heart?

Seventeen years after the Apocalypse, Admiral-class Explorer Tabysha is caught up in a firefight and shot down over Tyver, where ice vampires hunt human warmth. Seeking shelter in an ice cave, she is instructed to stay put and await rescue. But after another ship crash-lands, and the Hunter Gatherers stalk its wounded pilot, Tabi breaks protocol.

When it turns out the survivor is the man who stole her heart then skipped out on her ten years before, it seems to Tabi that no good deed goes unpunished, and things can’t get any worse. But she’s so wrong.

As the Hunters pick up the escalating heat signature of the former lovers, Tabi has to tell Asha that there is only one way to repel the creatures stalking them.

And it involves picking up where they left off ten years before.

Terris Thoughts

I was in the mood for some holiday reading so I found this on Amazon and thought I would give it a try.

I was sadly disappointed.  Since it was such a short novella I thought maybe it would be a cute quick read however wrong.  It really wasn't even a holiday read aside from the fact that it took place at Christmas.  There were no other links to the season.

This essentially was a story of two people having hot steamy sex and nothing else.  It has a futuristic theme at the beginning but really the only point of it was to set the stage for the sex scene.  No investment in the characters was evident or I think even intended in this story.  Think of some cheesy porn movie where the girl answers the door for the pizza boy...queue cheesy music and forget plot.

This just wasn't for me.

About the Author

Ros writes fresh, funny, genre-busting fiction. She digs feisty heroines, good friends, quirky families, heroes to make you sigh and tingle, and a dash of fantasy from time to time.

Ros Baxter has been writing since she was eight and penned a whimsical series of short stories about a race of tiny people who lived on a rainbow. She likes her new stuff better than her old stuff.

Since starting writing again in earnest four years ago, Ros has published Sister Pact (a romantic comedy co-written with her sister Ali, published by Harper Collins Australia); Fish Out of Water, White Christmas, Lingerie for Felons and Beached(Escape Publishing); and and two shorts - Home for the Holidays and Seven Deadly Sins (Amazon).

Ros lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her husband Blair, four small but very opinionated children, a neurotic dog and nine billion germs.
