Review: Forgotten Promises by Jessica Lemmon

Perfect for fans of Jay Crownover and Jennifer L. Armentrout, this edgy, seductive novel from Jessica Lemmon (“An author to keep your eye on!”—Katee Robert) introduces the ultimate bad boy . . . and a love that crosses all boundaries.

Morgan Young had a perfect upbringing, and now she’s got a perfect boyfriend and a perfect future—until her twenty-first birthday changes everything. First Morgan finds out, in the most painful way possible, that her relationship is a sham. But that’s nothing compared to the nightmare about to unfold.

It’s too late for Tucker Noscalo. A brutal childhood left him with a bad reputation and a criminal record. Fresh out of jail, Tucker has a score to settle with Baybrook’s crooked chief of police—his own father. Nobody will believe Tucker’s explosive accusations without proof and a good lawyer, neither of which he has on his side. Until he sees someone he used to know, someone who just so happens to be the daughter of the best lawyer in the county.

He needs Morgan to convince her father of the ugly truth. But first he has to convince her, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get her to listen. Confronted by the story of Tucker’s dark past, Morgan feels utterly compelled to help him. And as their connection grows into a fierce bond fueled by raw passion, Morgan finds herself falling for the wrong guy—but never has the promise of love felt so right.

Kristine's Thoughts:

** I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

In theory, this type of story is one that I don't like and that I tend to pick apart. The sweet, innocent girl falling for her bad boy kidnapper would have my eyes rolling. I'd be picking it apart at the seems. I'm happy to report that this book defied the odds because I liked it. I really liked it.

Perhaps it was Morgan and Tucker's history that softened the story or perhaps it was Tucker's desperation that drew me in, I'm not sure. This story was filled with emotion and turmoil that had me tearing through the pages. Tucker was most definitely the sexy bad boy but truly out of necessity. It was easy to empathise with him and understand the predicament he was in. Although he made some bad choices along the way, he was still easy to like.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the way the pages heated up. Morgan was the instigator and the teacher which was a refreshing change from the typical story. I enjoyed the way they grew close and learned about each other. It was sweet yet sexy at the same time.

This is the second book by this author for me and I think her stories get better each time. I will be watching for whatever she delivers next. Forgotten Promises provided me with just the right amount of sweet and sexy to satisfy my romance craving in a quick and entertaining read.
