Review: This One Moment by Stina Lindenblatt

Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.

When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

Kristine's Thoughts:

** I received an advanced readers copy from Penguin Random House- Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

Nolan fled his hometown, best friend and the woman he loved to live the rock star life and hide from the demons of his past. His career was looking great but news that Hailey was attacked and in hospital sent him back to her side and his past.

This book was typical in that Hailey and Nolan were lifelong best friends who were in love with each other but never did anything about it and didn't know that the other felt the same. What I had difficulty with was the fact that Nolan left without any contact with Hailey for five years and when he returned it was as if he hadn't been gone all that time. I also struggled with the fact that they both had amnesia. Hailey couldn't remember what happened when she was attacked and Nolan couldn't remember what happened the day his family was killed. Between his flashbacks, hers, and the loving each other from afar drama I found it a little chaotic and busy.  It took away from their chemistry and I wasn't as antsy for the pages to heat up as I would have liked.

The fact that the story was so busy distracted me from really feeling much for either Nolan or Hailey. They were both a tiny bit on the dull side which was unfortunate. I didn't dislike them, I just think they were a little forgettable.

This One Moment was a quick read and although it wasn't my favourite it still entertained me for a short time. I am definitely interested in reading future instalments to see where this series goes.
