I'm always a fan of second chance romances so I was positive that I would really enjoy Heart Breaker. The idea of a singer/songwriter duo who's relationship crashed and burned yet were forced back together in order to create a second album really appealed to me. My initial thought was "this is going to be interesting!"
Ugh... I found myself getting annoyed at Jolene and Chance a lot. When I say a lot I mean A LOT. Normally the love/hate relationship creates a chemistry that draws me in and has me routing for them but that was not the case with these two. I found the back and forth both boring and annoying and I was indifferent as to whether they would get together or not. There was a real lack of maturity with the two of them and it went on forever. It kind of reminded me of a Soap Opera. There could only be happiness for a split second before something would come along and spoil it. There was a ton of heat within the pages but without a great story surrounding it I couldn't find the fire.
This book was only 230 pages yet it took me three days to finish it. Normally I can finish a book that size in an afternoon if I'm really liking it. I could only take this book in small portions. I wish I could pin point exactly what was lacking for me but I'm not one hundred percent sure what it was. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
