Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

Terri's Thoughts

This book has been on my to read list forever.  My sister read it a long time ago and recommended it to me and I just never got around to it.  When I was watching TV one night, the trailer for the movie came on and I knew my time had run out.  I must always read the book before the seeing the movie and I know we will be going to see this.

I am not going to give an in depth review as this story has been reviewed thousands of times.  I think it is fair to say that the majority of the population loved this story as did I.  What I do want to say is that for those who have not yet read this story but plan to, do it quickly before you see the movie trailer.  For me, the trailer provided a little too much insight in to what the story is about and therefore I found that there were no real surprises and I knew what would happen.  This was slightly disappointing for me as I did not experience the full impact of the story.

That being said, I am smart enough to know that the disconnect was due to the exposure I had to the book before reading it.  Had I have gone in to it with no expectations or knowledge, I know I would have felt the emotional connection that is present in the story.  I really really wish I had read this before it was made in to a movie!

On another note, I can see how this story would be a great reading group book.  There are so many topics that I would love to debate in this review however cannot as it would disclose too much of the story and in the event that I am not the last person to read this, I do not want to spoil it for others.

Overall, I highly recommend this book.  My only regret is taking so long to get around to reading it
