I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The expected publication date is September 27th, 2016.
I have to admit it, I love puzzles and riddles. I have an obsession with escape rooms, although I have only done two, I see more in my future. When I saw the plot of this story, I figured it was meant to be. A real life cross country treasure hunt? How fun would that be?
I really enjoyed the clues/riddles that were given. I was too busy reading the story that I didn't take the time to try to decipher them although I wish I had tried. I doubt I would have gotten any of them since they were associated to American history and landmarks and not being American, I am not familiar with all of the nicknames etc.
This story moved fast for me. I liked both character's in this story. While they were both the typical beautiful you find in these stories, I found them to be a little more normal and relatable to the average person. Ainslee was a teacher and well...Griff had an exciting job but he was normal. He wasn't the typical brooding, good looking bad boy with a heart of gold, he was actually a nice guy from the start. It was refreshing. Of course he had his baggage but that is par for the course.
While the aspect of the mysterious bad guy was a little out there, I still enjoyed the read. The chemistry between Griff and Ainslee was easy and fun. Another refreshing change. I loved that Griff was always hungry, it added some humor to the story.
This is not the first story I have read by Gallant and I am sure it will not be the last. I have enjoyed everything I have read by her thus far. I recommend this for a light easy read.
