This is book four of the Players series and I have read all but the first one. If this is your first foray in to the series, it is not necessary to have read the previous stories although all of the characters are featured so there would be some advantage. It is not a deal breaker though as I didn't remember V from the previous stories.
This story read fast for me. From V and Sam's first face to face in fifteen years to the events that followed, I felt like I was on a fast paced journey. This is a good thing as sometimes this genre can drag things out longer than necessary. Not the case in this story. It keeps moving and I was thankful for that.
At times I felt that it would have been so easy for V to tell Sam her secret that I got frustrated. Then I took a step back and understood that in these situations (you have to read to find out), you can never know or judge unless you have walked in the same shoes. Who is for me to say things should be a certain way when I have never experienced what V did.
At the end of the day this was a love story and it delivered exactly as promised. fans of this genre or of Crowne will not be disappointed.
One last side note - I may have mentioned this in a previous review of this series but have I mentioned how much I hate football? I can't stand it and don't understand why my husband even watches it as there are so many better sports out there. The only reason to watch the Superbowl is for the commercials and the half time show (depending on who is performing). I don't understand how high school and college games get greater attendance than many other pro sports do nor do I understand the football culture. I only highlight this because this series is centered around the sport.....and I still enjoyed it! So you do not have to be a fan of the sport to enjoy this series! Happy reading!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind words. I'm thrilled you enjoyed V and Sam's story. I realize not everyone is a football fan and kept that in mind as I wrote my gridiron characters. I, on the other hand, love the game and consider the playoffs one of my favorite times of the year. I'm enjoying a game right now, in fact, and just told my complaining cat, who eats every day at this time, that he needed to be patient until the 2 minute warning. :-)
