Review: Through Your Eyes (For Your Love #3) by Shannon Schroeder

ONE LAST CHANCE

Deirdre Murphy has had her life planned for her since she was born: Work in her parents’ noisy pub in rural Ireland. Live with her family until she marries. Marry her childhood sweetheart ASAP, since he’s decided sexy fun time should wait for marriage. None of it excites her. But before her fate closes in, Deirdre’s got one last visit to her Chicago cousins—where she can spend her mornings in a peaceful bakery, keep to herself, and savor the space she needs…. Until she meets Tommy O’Malley.

Tommy is as tough as his city and twice as ready to welcome her in. He’s covered in tattoos, stays up half the night inking them on other people, and has a reputation for being good with his hands. And he’s heart-pounding, forgot-her-words, can’t-stop-staring exciting.

Tommy knows he’s the opposite of everything Deirdre has prepared for. But to watch her set herself free, he’s willing to risk almost anything…

Terri's Thoughts

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!

This is the third in the For Your Love series and while it could probably be read as a stand alone, it is probably advisable to read the series in order just to know the backstory of the secondary characters (namely Tommy's family).  In fact, I finally just figured out that the story of Jimmy (Tommy's brother) was told in a different series, the O'Leary series.  I always felt like his story had been shared outside of this series and only just realized that indeed it had been.  In fact, Dierdre is related to the O'Leary's so the two series are tied somewhat closely together.  If you have only been following this series, that's ok, same as me, it does not impact this story.

Let me just say that I am a big fan of Tommy.  I liked him from his initial introduction in the first two books and was looking forward to his story.  He is the typical too good to be true, stand up, sweet guy, all put together in great packaging.  Aside from the tattoo's since I am not a big fan, he is what most woman's daydreams are and lets be honest, what is lacking in the real world.

As for Deirdre, I was a little bit indifferent.  There was nothing per say wrong with her however there was also nothing captivating about her that had me thinking this is a great character.  The one thing I did appreciate about her was that she was a homebody which I can totally relate to.

The chemistry between the two was clear.  Although I do have to add that perhaps the chemistry at first was a little unrealistic based on Deirdre's inexperience.  Then again, there is a reason this is fiction.  Real life does not usually follow the same plot.

The thing that I liked most about this story is the complex and entertaining family dynamics in both Tommy' and Deirdre's family.  The fact that they co-exist and care so deeply about each other while having extremely different personalities and priorities in life.

I look forward to the next story which I will assume will be Kevin's as I believe he may be the only sibling that has not been featured yet.  I could be wrong, I will just have to wait and see.
