Review: I Knew You Were Trouble by Lauren Layne

New York City’s hottest bachelors are stirring up trouble in this fun, flirty Oxford Novel, as a love triangle forces a feisty beauty to choose between winning back Mr. Right or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Taylor Carr has it all—a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn’t worried. She’ll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer—and longtime pain in Taylor’s ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o’clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor’s buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick’s always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she’s gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it’s her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they’re shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they’re putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor’s ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she’ll jump at the chance to go back to her old life—unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

Kristine's Thoughts:

** I received an advanced readers copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

I Knew You Were Trouble is the fourth book in the Oxford series but it can be read as a stand alone. This book told the story of Nick and Taylor and the other books told the stories of different Oxford employees.

It was so good to return to the gang at Oxford. Although Nick and Taylor were newer additions to the Oxford team, the story still had the same charm and vibe that had me falling in love with the series in the first place. Some of my favourite characters from the previous books also made an appearance which put a smile on my face.

As I had expected this book was filled with witty characters, Layne's classic and much appreciated banter and the perfect amount of sexy time. This was classic Lauren Layne and exactly what I hope to get whenever I pick up one of her books. It is what she does best.

There were no real surprises in this book as far as the plot went but fans of contemporary romance and Lauren Layne will love it. What it lacked in originality it more than made up for in quirky and loveable characters. Lets also not forget that it took us back to the Oxford offices for fans who have been following the series.

I am a huge fan of Lauren Layne and I was more than happy to return to the gang at Oxford. She always delivers the romance fix that I crave. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next!
