Kristine's Thoughts:
I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.
I tried and tried to like this book and didn't give up on it as much as I was tempted to on numerous occasions. It isn't that there isn't a story within the pages, it is more that it is very slow in being told. The first half of the book was painfully slow. It wasn't until I was at the halfway point that I found the story more interesting and was actually wanting to know what happens. I think the problem for me was in the characters. They were not developed enough for my liking and therefore I wasn't overly invested in what happened to them. The premise of the story was good it just didn't excite me as I would have expected with this kind of story.
C.P.T. Jennings is a native of Appalachia who has made her home in Manhattan for the past 25 years.
