Review: Eye Candy by Jessica Lemmon

Jacqueline: As an adult woman--and the vice president of a marketing firm--I shouldn't be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he's a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can't bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend-slash-colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he's borderline obsessive about "getting me laid." (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it's clear: The one I'm falling for is Vince.

Vince: Jackie Butler's got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn't bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can't ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything's going according to plan . . . until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly anything is possible.

Kristine's Thoughts:

** I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

Eye Candy is the first book in the new Real Love series by Jessica Lemmon. I have read some of her other books so I was excited to check out this new series.

I am a sucker for a good love story and I am an even bigger sucker for a friends to lover story. From early on I could tell that this was shaping up to satisfy all of the things I crave most in a good romance.

Jacqueline and Vince were both divorced and shared the roll of vice president of their marketing firm. They helped each other through the tough times after their divorces and became really good friends. They would spend weekends together eating food and binge watching movies together. From the very first page it was easy to tell that the two were attracted to each other but for numerous reasons they considered each other off limits. When Jacqueline developed a crush on the the runner that passed her window every day Vince saw his opportunity to finally get her to see him as more than just a friend. With the pretence that he was going to help Jackie "get the guy" he turned up the heat to make her notice him instead.

I liked both Jackie and Vince and I loved the chemistry that the two had but I didn't always like their actions. Of course this is fiction and everything has to be complicated but I found that there was a lot of dishonesty and a little manipulation. In other words, they were both a little immature at times which kind of bugged me. However I did enjoy the fact that they were both divorcees and how this book showcased their insecurities and the difficulties they had with trust because of it.

I think that this is going to be a series that I will love to follow. I'm really hoping that the next book will be about a certain best friend who I got a glimpse of in this book. Fingers and toes are crossed for that!
