Terri's Thoughts
I received an advanced readers copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! It has just been released.
This is part four of the Kilted Heroes series. While I have previously read the third story, I had not read one or two. This story can be read as a stand alone.
While I had previously noted that I as a rule do not read books with the title "Scot" or any other nationality or title, I broke the rule this time because, well, I broke it with the last one. I had enjoyed it so I felt I needed to continue with the series.
What kept me reading in this story was the fact that both Ian and Bella were "nerds". Both extremely smart and more comfortable in the world of academia than in a social setting. Ian in particular, a hot nerd who didn't follow the expected social etiquette.....he is literally my dream guy (after my husband of course). The way the two bantered back and forth in their attempt to flirt was humorous.
As is the case many times, I did favor one character over the other. While I loved Ian, I actually could have done without Bella. She was simply too argumentative at times that it bordered on annoying. It took the whole bickering thing to an uncomfortable level and lost its charm a time or two because she was so stubborn. If I was Ian, I would not have stuck around for someone like her. Alas this is fiction and stories have a way of carrying on because lets be honest, I didn't write it!
I am not sure if there will be more to this series or not but I enjoyed the two that I have read. I previously mentioned that I wish I would have read the whole series as now I am curious. I am a fan of Janice Maynard and will continue to keep my eyes open for any new stories from her.
