Review: The Girl He Needs by Kristi Rose

The safe choice can be the riskiest of all…

Ever since her beloved older brother disappeared after an accident, Josie Woodmere’s been on a mission to find him—and maybe herself—along the way. That’s meant leaving her pampered, parent-approved life behind. Two years, four moves, and a body piercing later, she’s finally got a lead on her brother’s whereabouts, and she’s headed to Florida. She didn’t plan to ditch her sputtering car and accept a ride from Brinn McRae. But she didn’t plan to be attracted to a straight-laced guy like him either, much less land in his hometown, Daytona Beach…

A self-made man with a tough past, Brinn is a workaholic who allows very little room for pleasure—until he meets Josie. Their powerful chemistry is a distraction neither wants, yet neither can resist. Hoping they can burn it off, Brinn agrees to a no-strings arrangement. But they can only hide their deepening feelings for so long—until a disaster strikes, exposing truths that threaten to ruin everything…

Now, not only will Josie have to contend with the troubling secret her brother has finally revealed—she’ll have to convince Brinn she’s more than a rich girl playing at being free. This time, she’s playing for keeps.

Terri's Thoughts

I had received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  It has since been released.

Sometimes you have an instant connection with a story and this just happened to be one of those for me.  For some reason, everything clicked in this story.

I liked how Josie was a live in the moment, never look back type of girl.  I also liked that although she had these characteristic's, on the inside she was as insecure and scared as the next person, maybe more so. Brinn was equally enjoyable.  Determined and driven and hot as anything to boot.

Chemistry between the two was instant and believable.  I like how it could sometimes be evident just by eye contact and a glance.  Sometimes (or most) this is much more powerful than the actual "sexy time".  Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of that in this story also.  It was a little tame compared to some stories which was actually a plus for me.  There is only so much of the graphic details that can be provided until it becomes predictable  and boring.  In this story there was enough to highlight the physical chemistry between the two without necessarily overpowering the story.  Well played by Rose.

Although this is technically a romance, there is some substance in this story.  With Josie's need to escape her family, Brinn's need to be better than his past and the story of Will.  This made the story refreshing for me.

This story seems to be part of a series as an excerpt of the next book was at the back of this story.  I think I will be following this no strings attached series!
